Travis Kelce is taking his love for amusement parks into the business world. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end has joined investment firm JANA Partners in a major stake in Six Flags Entertainment, adding another unexpected name to his growing portfolio.

For Kelce, the move has a personal connection too. He grew up in Ohio, where Cedar Point was a familiar part of life, making this investment feel closer to home.

Travis Kelce invests in Six Flags with JANA Partners

Kelce and JANA Partners announced their investment in Six Flags Entertainment on October 21, 2025. JANA Partners established a 9% stake in the company, valued at roughly $200 million, while Kelce publicly confirmed his involvement through Instagram. His message showed that the deal was not simply about adding another company to his investment portfolio.

It connected with a childhood interest that remained close to him.“To all my fellow theme park and amusement park lovers,” Kelce wrote. “I have some exciting news!!! Couldn’t pass up the opportunity to continue the tradition and make Cedar Point and Six Flags even more special for the next generation of families! Excited to partner with JANA Partners as an investor in Six Flags. So crazy to even imagine this is real, but you gotta love it when life comes full circle.”

The Cleveland connection helps explain why the deal has attracted attention. Kelce grew up around 65 miles from Cedar Point, one of the best-known amusement parks in the United States.Theme Park Insider editor Robert Niles said the connection made sense because Cedar Point has long been closely associated with Cleveland culture.“I don’t know a single person from Cleveland that doesn’t love Cedar Point,” said Robert Niles, editor of Theme Park Insider.

“So, no surprise to me at all that a guy from Cleveland would want to be associated with any effort to make Cedar Point an even better place than it already is.”

Six Flags investment comes as company faces major challenges

Kelce's arrival comes at a difficult moment for Six Flags. The company's stock had fallen more than 45% during 2025, with weather, weaker attendance and growing competition contributing to its struggles. The company also faced pressure following the merger between Six Flags and Cedar Fair.

Niles described the situation bluntly.“A lot of people in the industry will acknowledge that Six Flags is a mess right now,” Niles said. “The merger of Six Flags and Cedar Fair has not delivered the benefits that people were hoping for. The headwinds that these parks have been fighting have just been too strong for them. Those two companies had to borrow a lot of money to get through the pandemic, and the shrinking buying power of the middle class has really hurt their core market.

The investment announcement nevertheless created an immediate market reaction. Six Flags shares jumped more than 20% during the session before closing nearly 18% higher. For Kelce, the Six Flags investment also adds another chapter to his expanding business career. Beyond football, he has invested in Formula 1's Alpine team and built commercial partnerships with brands including American Eagle, Subway and State Farm.

His growing profile, helped further by his relationship with Taylor Swift, has made him an increasingly recognizable figure beyond the NFL. Now, with Six Flags, Kelce is putting his name behind a business tied to a passion that started much closer to home.
