PAGADIAN CITY – Education Secretary Sonny Angara arrived in Zamboanga City on Wednesday to join a situation briefing with Ateneo de Zamboanga University (AdZU) president Fr. Guillrey Anthony Andal, SJ, local government officials, and the Philippine National Police (PNP) following the deadly shooting incident at a private school on Tuesday morning.

Angara, accompanied by other Department of Education (DepEd) officials, extended condolences to the university, the community, and the victims’ families. 

“We share in the grief of the school, the families, and all individuals affected by this tragedy,” Angara said.

The briefing was convened to assess the circumstances of the incident and coordinate immediate measures to ensure the safety of students and personnel. 

Authorities have yet to release further details pending ongoing investigation.

The PNP earlier said the situation on the campus was under control, with police units securing the area and assisting in the orderly evacuation of students and staff.
