The Korea Cartoonist Association and South Korea's Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) announced the five winners of the 2026 “Today's Korean Comics” awards on October 20. The winning works are:

  • A Ghost Story in Wartime by Tae-jin Kang
  • Osaka Loop Line by Hyeona Hyeon
  • Low Orbit Human by Eun-young Cho
  • The Journey of Ice and Steel by Uolon
  • Tyranno Noh Kyung-Soo by Hiphop Sinsun

All five winning works are serialized on Naver WEBTOON. A selection committee comprising industry professionals, creators, and reader representatives chose the winners from 15 nominated works. The committee was established in May.

Among the winners, Low Orbit Human also received the Korea Cartoonist Association President's Award, selected from the 15 finalists.

First established in 1999, Today's Korean Comics is one of South Korea's three major comic awards, alongside the Bucheon Manhwa Awards and the Korea Content Awards. Each of the five winners receives the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award and a cash prize of 7 million won (approximately US$5,000).

The awards ceremony will take place on November 3 during the annual Comics Day celebration.

While four of the winners are not available in English, fans can read The Journey of Ice and Steel on WEBTOON. The webtoon has been serialized in English since June.
