When is Match of the Day on? Watch MOTD on BBC TV and iPlayer

Translate

New Premier League campaign, new season of Match of the Day.

The iconic football highlights show is one of the world's longest-running TV programmes, having served UK audiences since 1964, and returns for the opening weekend of 2026/27.

Last year marked the start of a new era for MOTD, following Gary Lineker's exit, and there have been changes for the upcoming season as well.

The presenting job is still shared by Gabby Logan, Kelly Cates and Mark Chapman but four new faces have been added to an already star-studded pundit roster – Toby Alderweireld, Robbie Keane, Ashley Young and Thomas Frank – while the BBC will be making the most of their new immersive studio.

It's another wonky weekend where MOTD is concerned. Saturday's show will have highlights of seven games, including Tottenham v Everton and Sunderland v Arsenal.

Sunday, meanwhile, will be focused on just two – Man Utd v Man City and Coventry v Brighton – but there'll be a round-up of all the goals from the day before.

Radio Times brings you everything you need to know about when you can get your weekly football fix through Match of the Day.

The next episodes of Match of the Day will air on:

  • Saturday 5 September at 10:30pm on BBC One.
  • Sunday 6 September at 10:30pm on BBC One.

When is Match of the Day repeated?

Match of the Day is typically repeated on BBC One the following morning after it airs throughout the season.

It will be available on iPlayer shortly after midnight on the day it is broadcast.
