Sassuolo have officially signed defender Fedde Leysen from Union Saint-Gilloise, on loan with option to buy that can become an obligation for circa €8m.
The 23-year-old had also been linked with a potential Serie A move earlier in the summer for Bologna, but ended up just down the road at their local rivals instead.

It is a loan with option to buy at the end of the season that can become an obligation if certain conditions are met.
According to various reports, the condition is that Sassuolo merely remain in Serie A, and the total cost of the package is €8m.
Leysen is Belgian, but spent some of his career in the Netherlands with PSV Eindhoven, then returned in 2023 for Union Saint-Gilloise.
He went on to become a regular in the side that won the Supercup against Club Brugge and the Belgian Cup victory too.
Sassuolo have been very active on the transfer market this summer, signing Kieron Bowie, Vasilije Adzic, Benjamin Dominguez, Rafa Obrador and Giacomo Satalino.
