Dustin Yu addresses resurfaced online exchange with gay adult content creator

Dustin Yu broke his silence on a past online exchange with an LGBTQ+ adult content creator that recently resurfaced online and stirred speculation. 

The exchange took place in December 2021, before Twitter was rebranded as X. In a now-deleted post, Yu replied “OTW (on the way)” to a message from the content creator that read, “andito po ko sa bahay charot.”

Yu took to X on Thursday, Sept. 10, to clarify the context behind his old comment after it resurfaced on the platform.

“I’m doing a film right now, nasa lock-in taping ako and walang halos signal. I was told that I’m being dragged regarding something I commented years ago,” the 25-year-old actor said.

Yu explained that he initially chose not to address the issue, but wanted to clarify his position.

“I decided to speak up for the sake of my loved ones, while making sure to do so with respect for the LGBT community,” expressed the actor. 

“I replied to a comment on that account maybe around 5 years ago as a joke and simply to interact with people who were tagging me. Wala akong ibang intention behind it,” he added.

Yu also said he only recently learned that the account had changed its account name and content.

“Ngayon ko lang nalaman na nagpalit na pala ng account at content ‘yung account na ‘yun, and unfortunately, may mga taong ginagamit ngayon ‘yung old comment ko para gawan ng ibang storya at i-drag ako,” he said.

The actor maintained that his original comment had no other meaning despite interpretations of netizens.

“I know what I meant when I said it, and I won’t let someone twist an old interaction into something it was never meant to be,” Yu said.

Yu ended his statement by urging people to be more positive and kind, particularly when discussing matters that could affect another person.

“We may not always agree or understand each other, but I hope we can choose to be kinder instead of creating stories that can hurt someone,” he said.

“I hope you find happiness that doesn’t have to come at someone else’s expense,” Yu concluded his post.
