Champion Breweries grows revenue to N51.4bn
Champion Breweries Plc recorded a 140 per cent increase in revenue to N51.4bn in the nine months ended September 30, 2026, driven mainly by the consolidation of enJOYbev B.V., despite lower sales volumes in its standalone brewery business.
The brewer disclosed this in its unaudited financial results for the nine-month period, which showed that revenue rose from N21.4bn recorded in the corresponding period of 2025.
Operating profit increased by 48 per cent to N6.3bn from N4.3bn, while profit after tax rose to N2.18bn from N2.05bn.
The company attributed the revenue growth mainly to the consolidation of enJOYbev B.V., noting that its standalone brewery business recorded lower sales volumes, in line with industry trends.
It said disciplined pricing and product mix optimisation helped protect profitability despite the challenging consumer demand environment.
However, operating margin moderated as the group absorbed integration costs and continued investments in route-to-market expansion, brand building and distribution.
The company said its profit after tax included a net tax credit of approximately N1.3bn, mainly arising from deferred tax recognised on temporary differences under IAS 12.
The tax credit was partly offset by higher finance costs associated with acquisition funding and prevailing interest rates.

According to the company, the acquisition of enJOYbev has expanded its operations into new product categories and brands, reducing its reliance on a single segment while creating opportunities for shared distribution and growth across new markets and consumer segments.
Commenting on the results, the Managing Director, Mr Sampath Malolan, said, “Our results for the first nine months show the resilience of Champion Breweries at a time of softer consumer spending and volume pressure across the industry. Disciplined pricing, active portfolio management and a sustained focus on operational excellence allowed us to deliver solid profitability while advancing the strategic initiatives that will drive our future growth.”
He added, “The successful integration of enJOYbev B.V. has broadened our growth platform and moves us closer to our ambition of building a diversified beverage group with multiple growth engines. We remain focused on operational efficiency, expanding our route to market and creating sustainable value for shareholders.”
Malolan said the company expected key brand relaunches, the commissioning of its new canning line and the festive trading season to support its performance in the fourth quarter.
“In the fourth quarter, we expect key brand relaunches, the commissioning of our new canning line and the festive trading season to sharpen our competitiveness, extend our consumer reach and lift revenue momentum. These initiatives will give us greater packaging flexibility, deepen our market penetration and position Champion for sustainable growth over the long term,” he said.
Management said it remained confident that the initiatives would strengthen the company’s competitiveness, grow revenue and enhance shareholder value over the medium to long term.
Champion Breweries Plc is a Nigerian brewing and beverage company listed on the Main Board of Nigerian Exchange Limited. It produces and markets alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Following its acquisition of enJOYbev B.V., it operates as a diversified beverage group with a broader platform for regional growth.
