Russell Crowe and Leonardo DiCaprio's forgotten, action-packed spy thriller has exploded back onto streaming at the perfect time. Crowe and DiCaprio have had a number of noteworthy movies added to their respective careers in recent years. For Crowe, this includes films like The Pope's Exorcist, an underrated supernatural horror thriller that impressed at the box office. In DiCaprio's case, this has involved movies like Killers of the Flower Moon, which went on to become an Oscar darling and critical success, another high-profile movie under Martin Scorsese's belt.
But the pair have also shared the screen before in an action spy thriller that's since been lost to time: Body of Lies. Directed by Ridley Scott, Body of Lies follows the United States' CIA and Jordan's GID attempting to capture terrorist Al-Saleem in the Middle East. It stars Crowe as Ed Hoffman, the chief of the CIA's Near East Division, and DiCaprio as Roger Ferris, a field officer who reports to him. The movie follows their investigation into the terrorist's plots as they attempt to track him down.
Crowe & DiCaprio's Body Of Lies Has Snuck Into Apple TV's Top 10
Now, 18 years after it was originally released in theaters, Body of Lies has managed to sneak its way onto Apple TV's Top 10 charts. According to data from November 4, 2026, Body of Lies is Number 8 on Apple TV in the United States, making its way onto the platform's Top 10 not long after its November 2 debut on the platform. This puts the movie above other noteworthy releases, including Christopher Nolan's sci-fi epic Interstellar and Brad Pitt's constantly-performing F1 film.
The movie's success is somewhat antithetical to its original reception, which was lukewarm at best when the film first came out. According to reviews for Body of Lies, the movie scored a 58% with critics based on 208 reviews. However, audiences were more forgiving toward the movie, with it earning a 62% based on over 100,000 ratings. While it doesn't give the movie the title of either Crowe's or DiCaprio's best films, it does signify a general interest in the movie that's continued into the present day.
How Body Of Lies Compares To Other Ridley Scott Adaptations
It's also an adaptation from Ridley Scott, though one that falls short of some of his more impressive movies across his career. This includes Blade Runner, which spawned a multimedia franchise and plenty of other stories elsewhere that were inspired by its universe. He was also responsible for directing the big-screen adaptation of The Martian starring Matt Damon, which earned plenty of acclaim upon release. Body of Lies, by comparison, doesn't have the same cultural relevance.
Question 1 of 3
And yet, despite this, the movie has still managed to perform well on Apple TV. It's clear that plenty of viewers of both Crowe and DiCaprio's work have found their movie together a worthwhile watch. As Body of Lies has only just made it onto Apple TV's charts, it remains to be seen how well it will perform in the days and weeks ahead.
