KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia turned lower on Friday after opening marginally higher, tracking weaker overnight sentiment on Wall Street following disappointing technology earnings.

The benchmark index opened 0.70 of a point higher at 1,611.86 before slipping into negative territory.

The market is expected to remain in consolidation mode, although the recent correction has created selective buying opportunities in fundamentally sound blue-chip stocks.

In the crypto market, Bitcoin fell to RM313,584 after Binance reported a security issue.
