Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has mourned the death of the Executive Secretary of the Bauchi State Health Contributory Management Agency, Ibrahim Duguri, who died in a motor accident alongside four of his children.

The accident reportedly occurred at Yalwan Duguri in Alkaleri Local Government Area of the state on Saturday.

The deceased’s children were identified as Hajara, Usman, Rukayya and Maryam, while another son, Suleiman, reportedly survived the accident.

The governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday.

According to the statement, Mohammed expressed condolences on behalf of his family, the state government and the people of Bauchi State, describing the incident as a devastating loss.

The statement quoted the governor as saying, “The death of Ibrahim Duguri represents a monumental loss to Bauchi State, particularly the health sector, where he distinguished himself through dedication, commitment, and an unwavering passion for improving access to healthcare services for the people.”

Mohammed said the deceased played a significant role in advancing the state’s health contributory management system and supporting efforts to make healthcare more accessible, particularly to less privileged residents.

He added that Duguri had also contributed to the state’s medical team during pilgrimage exercises in Saudi Arabia, where he demonstrated commitment to the health and well-being of pilgrims.

The governor described the deceased as a close personal friend and classmate, saying his death was a personal loss beyond the loss of a dedicated public servant.

“His death, therefore, represents not only the loss of a valued public servant but also the painful departure of a beloved family member and trusted companion whose life was marked by service, loyalty, and dedication to humanity,” the statement quoted Mohammed as saying.

The governor expressed particular sadness over the deaths of the four children in the same incident, noting that the tragedy had compounded the family’s grief.

He said, “The loss of four young members of the same family in one tragic incident makes this tragedy even more heartbreaking. No words can adequately express the pain and anguish of the bereaved family at this difficult moment.”

Mohammed prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, accept their good deeds and grant Ibrahim Duguri and his children eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus.

He also prayed for the surviving son, Suleiman, and other members of the bereaved family to find the strength to bear the loss.

The governor urged residents of the state to remember the family in their prayers and extend compassion and solidarity to them during the period of mourning.

The statement added that the funeral prayer for the deceased would be held at the palace of the District Head of Yalwan Duguri on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at 11 am.
