Arman Tsarukyan needed barely more than a minute to beat Dillon Danis. He claimed Real American Freestyle's inaugural middleweight crossover title at RAF 14 in Las Vegas. The UFC lightweight contender won by a 10-0 technical fall at 1:18 of the first period. He then briefly stepped on Danis while leaving the mat. Security intervened before the situation escalated. Tsarukyan controlled the match from the opening exchanges. Danis offered little resistance and finished without a point. The Armenian improved to 8-1 in RAF, while Danis fell to 0-3.
Tsarukyan ends Danis' night in the first period
Arman Tsarukyan wasted little time establishing control. After a slap drew a warning from the referee, he scored a snapdown and pushed Dillon Danis out of bounds to take a 3-0 lead.
Danis briefly threatened with a kneebar, but Tsarukyan escaped, turned him twice, and pushed him out again to reach the 10-point margin required for a technical fall. The bout ended in the first period, leaving Danis without a point.
The Armenians' performance was as expected given the gap in wrestling pedigree. He improved to 8-1 in RAF, while Danis fell to 0-3 in the promotion.
Tsarukyan and Danis nearly came to blows again after the RAF 14 clash
The result was almost overshadowed by what followed. As Dillon Danis tried to stand, Arman Tsarukyan stepped on his chest, prompting security to rush onto the mat.
Danis, however, did not retaliate. He remained composed as officials separated the two and later shook Tsarukyan's hand, seemingly to defuse the situation.
The bad blood had already been building. At Thursday's RAF 14 press conference, Tsarukyan tried to strike Danis after the Brazilian-American stood up to show his shirt, but security prevented a larger altercation.
Tsarukyan targets Gaethje for a long-awaited title shot
The victory gives Tsarukyan an RAF title to add to his growing combat sports résumé, but his main objective remains the UFC lightweight championship. He has said he expects to challenge Justin Gaethje early in 2027 after his first-round knockout of Mauricio Ruffy at UFC 331.
The RAF has not announced any punishment for Tsarukyan's post-match conduct. His focus will now return to the Octagon, where a win over Gaethje would finally deliver the title shot he has chased for years.
