Great North Run 2026 on free TV: Channel, live stream and highlights

The 45th edition of the Great North Run is expected to be the biggest ever – with 63,000 runners taking on the iconic city-to-sea route and more than 200,000 fans expected to cheer them on from the sidelines.

Dubbed the world's biggest half-marathon, 1.4 million competitors have worked their way around the iconic Gateshead to South Shields route since 1981.

That continues on Sunday when a mix of elite athletes, celebrities and the public will don bibs and lace their trainers in what looks to be good running weather.

Defending champions Alex Mutiso and Sheila Chepkirui lead the elite competitors, while 2022 Commonwealth Games champion Eilish McColgan looks to be the best hope of a British athlete on the podium.
