Indonesia, Azerbaijan seek to expand industrial investment ties

Indonesia and Azerbaijan are exploring opportunities to expand cooperation in industrial development and investment across strategic sectors, including energy, processing, and infrastructure, to increase economic value and strengthen bilateral ties.
The issue was discussed during a bilateral meeting between Deputy Minister of Investment and Downstream Todotua Pasaribu and Deputy Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan Azer Bayramov in Baku, Azerbaijan, on Tuesday (October 27).
Todotua said Indonesia offered significant investment potential and was open to expanding its partnership with Azerbaijan.
He added that Indonesia continued to promote investment opportunities that would benefit the national economy through policies focused on adding value to natural resources and advancing industrial development.
Although Azerbaijan's investment in Indonesia remained limited, Todotua said the two countries could broaden their cooperation beyond commodity trade to include industrial development and investment in strategic sectors through concrete projects that would generate economic value for both sides.
He said cooperation could be expanded across several promising sectors, particularly energy, the processing industry, and infrastructure.
He also stressed the need to strengthen communication and coordination between institutions in both countries to identify potential areas of cooperation and encourage investment realization.
"Indonesia and Azerbaijan have significant potential to complement each other in resources, investment, and industrial development. The priority now is to bring this potential into concrete cooperative projects," Todotua said.
Meanwhile, Indonesia's Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Berlian Helmy, emphasized the importance of economic diplomacy in strengthening bilateral relations.
He noted that coordination among government representatives, investment promotion agencies, and businesses could create more opportunities for cooperation and deepen economic ties between Indonesia and Azerbaijan.
