KAJANG: A man who was reported missing by his family five days ago was found dead in a car at a supermarket car park in Jalan Impian Mahkota last night.

District police chief assistant commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof said police received a report about the discovery of the car at 11.29pm.

"Initial investigations found a man, believed to be in his 50s, lying unconscious in the driver's seat of a Perodua Axia.

"The engine was off and the car was locked from the inside," he said.

He said police sought the assistance of Fire and Rescue Department personnel to open the car door before medical personnel from Kajang Hospital examined the victim and pronounced him dead.

He said police received a missing person report last Tuesday after the man's family members were unable to contact him.

"Preliminary investigations have so far found no foul play at the scene or on the deceased. The case has been classified as a sudden death report (SDR).

"Further investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the incident and his death," he said in a statement today.

Those with information about the incident is urged to contact investigating officer Inspector Shisheewady Ruzani at 016-856 5670 or the nearest police station.

Earlier, several photographs went viral showing police and Fire and Rescue Department personnel examining a parked car near a supermarket.

Following this, several social media users claimed that the man inside the car was their family member who had been reported missing five days earlier and was found at the location.

The man and the car were found about 15 minutes from where he allegedly lived.
