KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 24 — A baby boy, believed to be about a month old, was found alive in a box under the staircase of an apartment block in Kepong Thursday.

Gombak Police chief ACP Ibrahim Husin said police received a report about the discovery from a man in his mid-30s at 9.14 am.

He said the baby was believed to have been abandoned by an unidentified individual under the staircase of Block 1, Desa Satu, Desa Aman Puri Apartment, Jalan Puri Kepong.

"The baby boy is in good health and has been admitted to hospital for further observation," he said in a statement yesterday.

Ibrahim said the case was being investigated under Section 317 of the Penal Code.

He also urged anyone with information about the incident to contact investigating officer Insp Mohammad Hisham Mohd Rahman @ Amir Hamzah at 010-9475532 or the nearest police station. — Bernama
