Nana Patekar’s son Malhar Patekar has responded to the renewed discussion around the late actor and the sexual harassment allegations made against him by Tanushree Dutta years ago. Without taking her name, Malhar maintained that the matter had already been settled legally and questioned why it was being brought up again following his father’s death on October 8.Nana died of a heart attack in Goa at the age of 75. Following his demise, Tanushree made several statements questioning the circumstances surrounding his death and revisited the allegations she had made against the actor. In a conversation with Hindustan Times, Malhar addressed the ongoing controversy, making it clear that he did not wish to engage in a direct exchange with those making the remarks. He clarified that he wouldn't like to name anyone, and he cryptically reacted to it.“Without naming anyone, I want to say that the case people are bringing up unnecessarily is already over. Judiciary se clear hua hain, case khatam ho chuka; phir bhi bol rahe," he said.He further added, “Aise logo ko mein unko kuch nahi boluga; joh sach hai wahi rahega, bhagwan unka bhala kare, this is what I have to say to them."Tanushree had accused Nana of sexually harassing her during the filming of 'Horn ‘Ok’ Pleassss'. In June 2019, Mumbai Police filed a closure report in court, citing insufficient evidence to prosecute the actor or substantiate the allegations.
The legal dispute was effectively closed in 2025.After news of Nana’s death emerged, Tanushree made a series of comments that attracted attention and criticism. She questioned why no prayer meeting had been held and alleged that the film industry and the media had not been given an opportunity to pay their last respects to the actor. She also alleged that Nana had staged his death to evade legal proceedings and suggested that a DNA test could be conducted if he had altered his appearance.
These claims remain unsubstantiated by the information available.Tanushree also faced backlash for referring to Nana as “evil dead". Responding to the criticism, she posted a video defending her remarks, arguing that his death did not erase what she had alleged had happened in the past.In the video, she described Nana as “a sadistic, sick psychopath" and called his death “nothing short of a miracle". She also expressed the feeling that the suffering she associated with him had finally come to an end.Her remarks drew strong reactions, particularly because they came shortly after the news of the actor’s death.Malhar’s statement marks a response from Nana’s family to the renewed controversy. However, he refrained from naming Tanushree or commenting on her individual allegations, choosing instead to emphasise that the legal matter had already reached its conclusion.Nana Patekar’s last rites were performed with full state honours at his farmhouse in Donje, Pune, after sunset.
