Stephen Graham's "riveting" drama is the "terrific" movie to watch this weekend

Boiling Point, the highly acclaimed 2021 film from the Adolescence duo of actor Stephen Graham and director Philip Barantini, is one of those films that always seems to be on at least one streaming service at all times. As if of this week, it's been added to three (!) more, so you've really got no excuse.

Set in the kitchen of a fancy London restaurant, this one-shot film follows a busy shift in real time as the staff try to deal with the stresses of the job, and the tensions that are rising between them.

The show actually spawned a spin-off TV series of the same name, with multiple people returning from the film, but we'll get to that later.

What did critics say about Boiling Point?

Unsurprisingly given that it comes from the Adolescence duo, Boiling Point was highly acclaimed by critics. In fact, it has a near-perfect score of 99% positive on Rotten Tomatoes, meaning that just one of the 79 collected reviews is negative.

iNews called it a "tense, riveting drama", while The Independent stated that the film "does a thorough job of parachuting you into the sweaty, unforgiving confines of a restaurant kitchen".

"It is a terrific ride driven by Graham's honest, urgent, vulnerable performance", added The Spectator.

TheWrap's negative review dinged the film for being a one-shot, although Barantini has had the last laugh there by continuing to use the technique to great success in Adolescence.

Where can I stream Boiling Point?

The film was already available on the Channel 4 service, where it remains, but now it's been added to three more streamers.

You can now also find it on Netflix, Prime Video and MUBI as of this week. If you don't have a Prime Video subscription you can still watch it on there through MUBI as an add-on channel.

If you don't subscribe to Prime Video, the MUBI add-on offers a 7-day free trial while Channel 4 is free with ads with an optional premium ad-free tier, so plenty of choices.

About that Boiling Point TV series, it's currently available to stream via BBC iPlayer. There's also a 2019 short film that serves as the basis for the main film, and that's available via iPlayer and the Prime Video add-on channel ShortsTV, also with a free trial.

We've mentioned Adolescence a few times, so it's worth mentioning that it's exclusive to Netflix.
