Senate President Sherwin Gatchalian said Saturday that the Senate would begin deliberations on the proposed 2026 national budget on Wednesday, October 14.
He also expressed hope that the prosecution team in the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte would conclude its presentation by Tuesday, October 13.
“Yes,” Gatchalian told GMA News Online when asked to confirm reports on the supposed schedules.
The House of Representatives passed on second reading the proposed P7.2-trillion national budget, but the measure drew criticism from several lawmakers over proposed changes to its allocations.
The House approved P116 billion in budget realignments, prompting questions from lawmakers about the changes.
Under House rules, a bill must undergo a three-day period between its approval on second reading and its third and final reading.
The House is expected to approve the proposed budget on third and final reading by Monday, October 12.— MCG, GMA News
