EXCLUSIVE: Hulu has greenlighted Victoria, a new erotic thriller from creator Christy Hall (I Am Not Okay with This), Onyx Collective and Counterpart Studios, to star Sinners and Spider-Noir alum Li Jun Li.

Set in the cutthroat world of San Francisco’s elite, limited series Victoria follows a brilliant con artist who finds herself in a dark web of power, luxury and the crosshairs of a seductive killer who knows her secrets.

Li plays Maxine Tao, a sophisticated and cunning con woman who is thrust into the seductive, high-stakes world of venture capital after a chance encounter grants her the grift of a lifetime.

Hall will serve as showrunner and exec produce alongside Emmy nominee Geeta Vasant Patel (LanternsUnder the Bridge), who’s directing the pilot, along with Lilly Burns, Elise Henderson and Tony Hernandez for Counterpart Studios. Li is co-producer.

In television, Hall previously wrote, exec produced and co-created Netflix’s dark coming-of-age comedy I Am Not Okay With This. More recently, she made her directorial debut with the drama Daddio, starring Sean Penn and Dakota Johnson, which released with Sony Pictures Classics after premiering at Telluride. Additionally, she wrote and produced It Ends with Us, Sony’s hit adaptation of the novel by Colleen Hoover. Up next, she’s penning a film adaptation of Rebecca Yarros’ bestselling novel Variation for Amazon MGM Studios and the Obama’s Higher Ground. The multi-hyphenate, who began her career in theater, is repped by CAA, Untitled Entertainment, and Yorn Levine Barnes.

Li has broken out recently with roles in Damien Chazelle’s Babylon, Ryan Coogler’s Warner Bros. phenomenon Sinners, and the recent Marvel series Spider-Noir, opposite Nicolas Cage. Most recently, she wrapped roles in two buzzy series: the fourth season of Netflix’s global hit The Night Agent and the third season of HBO’s The Last of Us. She is repped by Gersh, Authentic Talent & Literary Management, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
