Super Bowl Champion Greg Jennings Raises Concerns About Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs had no answer when the Seattle Seahawks turned Sunday night into a physical battle, leaving their unbeaten start to the season behind with a 20-3 defeat. For former NFL wide receiver and Super Bowl champion Greg Jennings, the result exposed a problem that went beyond missed kicks or stalled drives. He felt Kansas City had been pushed around by a team that controlled the game from start to finish. With a divisional clash against the Denver Broncos approaching, Jennings' assessment gave the Chiefs another reason to examine their performance.

Greg Jennings questions Kansas City Chiefs' physicality

Speaking on First Things First, Jennings did not soften his view of Kansas City's performance against Seattle. He believed the Chiefs struggled to match their opponents' strength and intensity, raising concerns about how they would handle similar challenges later in the season.

“They were just flat-out dominated. They were bullied. They were out-physicaled,” Jennings said.

The defeat marked Kansas City's first loss of the 2026 campaign, but the manner of the result made it particularly difficult to ignore. The Chiefs had entered the game with an offense that had performed well through the opening six weeks. Against Seattle, however, Patrick Mahomes and his teammates could not turn promising early drives into points.

Kansas City reached Seahawks territory on each of its first three possessions but came away empty-handed. The offense never reached the red zone, and the team finished with only 213 total yards.

Head coach Andy Reid accepted responsibility for the performance, admitting that Kansas City struggled across all three phases of the game. Mahomes offered a similarly direct assessment of what went wrong.“I think the biggest takeaway is that if you don't come ready to play, you get your tail kicked in this league,” the quarterback said.

Seattle's defense exposes Kansas City's offensive struggles

The Seahawks backed up their physical approach by limiting Kenneth Walker III, who had joined Kansas City after winning Super Bowl MVP honors with Seattle. Walker managed 36 rushing yards on 14 carries against his former team, a sharp drop from his strong start to the season.

Seattle's defense made life difficult for Mahomes, too. He completed 19 of 33 passes for 165 yards and threw an interception. Kansas City converted only three of 11 third-down attempts, while the Seahawks kept possession for nearly 36 minutes.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba provided the attacking threat that Kansas City could not match. The Seattle receiver caught nine passes for 150 yards and a touchdown, repeatedly finding room against the Chiefs' secondary.

Kansas City now faces a difficult trip to Denver in Week 8. The Broncos ended the Chiefs' run of nine consecutive AFC West titles last season, making the upcoming divisional matchup an important test of their response.
