Prime Video subscribers get ready for a weekend on the streaming service that will be filled with movies that promise to keep your heart pounding, one way or another. On last weekend's Prime Video movie recommendations, I talked about Now You See Me: Now You Don't, Wuthering Heights, and The Godfather, the latter being one of the best movies ever.

Only one of those movies is currently trending on the streaming service nationwide, with the heist magic movie Now You See Me: Now You Don't being the most-watched film on Prime Video in the United States at the time of writing. For this new roster of Prime Video movies, I chose only one entry on Prime Video's Top 10 Movies chart.

Higheror Lower?

Choose the movie with the higher Rotten Tomatoes score.

That one is a Keanu Reeves action thriller that is the latest chapter of a major franchise. The R-rated movie is accompanied by a recent horror hit that is also part of a popular franchise, and one of Jason Statham's collaborations with Guy Ritchie. There are no Prime Video original movies this time around, but these are the best movies on the streamer this weekend:

3 X (2022)

Starting us off is the only horror movie for the spooky season at hand. Mia Goth's X film franchise is one of the most popular recent horror hits. So, in a year when the genre is booming with hits, such as Backrooms and Obsession, 2022's X, the first movie in the horror franchise, is worth watching. X also happens to have just arrived on Prime Video on October 1.

In X, Goth gives life to Maxine Minx, an adult film star, and Pearl, an elderly woman who owns the farmhouse Maxine and crew are going to shoot a movie on. However, jealousy soon turns into a bloody affair, with X being a gruesome slasher that is perfect as we near Halloween. The Ti West-directed movie also features stars like Jenna Ortega, Kid Cudi, Brittany Snow, and more.

2 John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023)

Keanu Reeves' John Wick: Chapter 4 is the only movie that is currently trending on the streaming service on the list. John Wick: Chapter 4 stands as the 4th most-watched movie on Prime Video in the United States, a fitting position. It is the latest entry in the action thriller franchise that revived Reeves' career, and it features major stars like Donnie Yen, Bill Skarsgård, Hiroyuki Sanada, Lance Reddick, Laurence Fishburne, and more.

All four John Wick movies arrived on Prime Video on October 1, just like Goth's X. John Wick: Chapter 4 is a universally beloved action movie with intricate set pieces and clever camera movements that make its action perhaps the franchise's most kinetic and exciting. On Rotten Tomatoes, John Wick: Chapter 4 stands at a near-perfect 94% critics' score and an epic 93% audience score. The latest John Wick movie follows Wick's quest for revenge against the High Table.

1 Wrath of Man (2021)

Finally, continuing on the R-rated action thriller thread, the best movie to watch on Prime Video this weekend is Wrath of Man. Director Guy Ritchie has multiple releases currently trending on streaming, including Henry Cavill's In the Grey, Theo James' The Gentlemen, Robert Downey Jr.'s Sherlock Holmes, and more. Arriving on October 1, Wrath of Man is the perfect follow-up for those who have completed the Ritchie streaming streak.

Starring one of the action genre's biggest stars in the form of Statham, Wrath of Man follows the actor as H, an armored truck driver who has an ulterior motive. The movie is a revenge thriller with Statham breaking bones and leaving foes bloody on his way to a crucial goal. This is the one to end the weekend on Prime Video with an adrenaline surge.
