The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remains one of the greatest games in history, and it's about to return in a whole new form thanks to a highly anticipated remake for the Nintendo Switch 2. After a full reveal gave us a much better look at the game, we know a lot more about what to expect, but there are still plenty of mysteries to uncover after release day.

One of the biggest areas of contention is additional content that the developer may or may not have chosen to add to proceedings this time around, with the term remake usually suggesting that fans can look forward to some new stuff at the very least. While we wait to find out, we do know of one release that will give you access to some additional content in-game, and it's worth picking up as an addition to any burgeoning collection.

Zelda Amiibo Nintendo

As first reported by GameRant, Nintendo confirmed the upcoming release of new amiibo figures of Young Link and Young Zelda that are scheduled to drop in 2027. These can then be used to unlock special in-game masks that carry the appearances of both characters, though it's likely these won't have tangible effects in-game.

Happily for us older fans, they have kept the appearances of the original characters from the 1998 release, which really laid out many of the design inspirations for later versions of both Zelda and Link. Both are available for pre-order right now, though it's worth moving quickly if you do want to get your hands on them, as stock has been in and out due to high demand.

The Young Link amiibo depicts the iconic youthful appearance of Link sitting alongside Navi, his fairy companion in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Young Zelda, meanwhile, shows the princess holding the titular instrument itself, which plays such a crucial role as the narrative develops.

The two amiibos will likely serve as only the first run of such figures for the game, as Nintendo have been very keen to tie them into their other Zelda releases as regularly as possible.

The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time

Fans of The Legend of Zelda have so much to look forward to outside of the Ocarina of Time Remake that it's difficult to even know where to begin. The movie is still on course to release next year, and that's set to be a self-contained offering that doesn't affect the wider universe of releases too much. We should also get another announcement on what their plans are for the series moving forward at some point, though they will likely wait for the hype around Ocarina to die down first.
