SEOUL, Oct 29 — Former BigBang member Seungri has confirmed that he’s married and expecting his first child.

On Tuesday, rumours of his partner’s pregnancy circulated, with reports claiming the two planned to marry after the birth of their son in January 2027.

Reports also said his partner is a non-celebrity woman in her 20s, and the couple have a home prepared in Gangnam, Seoul.

Seungri, who turns 36 in December, told South Korean publication Ilgan Sports yesterday that they have already registered their marriage.

He denied that his wife’s pregnancy happened before they married.

The disgraced former K-pop idol, whose real name is Lee Seung-hyun, co-founded the Burning Sun nightclub in Seoul which faced allegations of sex crimes in 2019, including the drugging and trafficking of women to high-profile individuals and the distribution of non-consensual sex videos in chat rooms.

He left BigBang and retired from showbiz in 2019.

Seungri was sentenced to three years’ jail for prostitution-related and gambling offences by a military court while he was serving his mandatory military service, which was later reduced to 1.5 years after two appeals.

He was released in February 2023.

In August this year, he faced a criminal complaint over alleged assault at a restaurant in Gangnam.

According to The Korea Herald, a man in his 30s had alleged that Seungri swung a soju bottle in a threatening manner and invoked alleged connections to organised crime.

Seungri’s legal representative acknowledged that he picked up a bottle of soju, but denied the charges, saying that there was no physical contact, assault or threat. — AsiaOne
