Liz Truss pictured at Mar-a-Lago on night of midterms as Trump's Republicans wiped out

Liz Truss was pictured at a dinner at Mar-a-Lago on the night Donald Trump’s Republicans faced a humiliating wipeout in the 2026 Midterm Elections.

The former British prime minister, who served just 49 days in office before being ousted by her own Conservative party colleagues, was spotted at the table for some of Trump’s most adoring followers.

Truss, 51, held up a copy of right-wing Polish MEP Dominik Tarczyński’s book and smiled for a picture.

“Be Like Poland! Backing Dominik Tarczyński and his fellow freedom fighters!” she captioned the image on social media, tagging Trump’s gold-lacquered Palm Beach resort.

Tarczyński can be seen at the same table brandishing his own copy of his book.

The controversial former journalist-turned-politician made headlines in the UK earlier this year when he was banned from entering the country to speak at a Tommy Robinson rally.

He blasted then-prime minister Keir Starmer, calling him a “communist” and threatening to sue him personally for the ban.

Truss weighed in at the time, branding the Home Office’s decision as “shocking”.

The pair, along with a group of other Trump devotees, were at Mar-a-Lago for a night of turmoil, as the widely predicted ‘Blue Wave’ of Democrats wiped out Republican seats, taking over both the Senate and the House.

Truss’ appearance comes shortly after her new book release, in which she claimed it was not her 2022 mini budget that sent the British economy into shock.

In it, she blamed the Bank of England for the ensuing economic turmoil and hit out at Treasury officials for failing to warn her of the risks.

The move saw her ejected from No 10 after just 49 days in office after her £45 billion spree of unfunded tax cuts unleashed chaos in the financial markets.

“It wasn’t the mini budget that went wrong,” the former prime minister told Sky News on Tuesday.

“What there was was a spike in the gilt market. That’s what led to the chain of events that ultimately led to my resignation.”

Asked what responsibility she took for causing that spike in borrowing rates, Truss replied: “Not very much is the answer.”

She said two-thirds of the spike was caused by liability driven investment (LDI) pension funds, which were hit by her and her chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng’s mini budget.

“That’s not including the Bank of England’s action, which was to start quantitative tightening the day before the mini budget.

“So my view is, even if we hadn’t done the mini budget, the combination of quantitative tightening and LDIs were the cause of what happened.”

She also said: “The vast majority of the responsibility lies with Bank of England, and they’ve got absolutely none of the flak for this.”

Ms Truss admitted in her book Bank Job she did not know about the LDI market or of the Bank of England’s plans to start its government bond selling programme, known as quantitative tightening.

Challenged over her lack of awareness of the central bank’s moves, Ms Truss argued prime ministers should not have to do their own research.
