Actress Mrunal Thakur recently opened up about how Bollywood has shaped her idea of love, revealing that Shah Rukh Khan’s romantic characters have influenced her expectations of romance. The actress made a playful remark saying, “Shah Rukh Khan is not in my life just breaks my heart,” adding that the superstar has set such high standards that she is yet to find a man who matches his on-screen romantic charm.While speaking with India Today, Mrunal Thakur spoke about how much she admires the romantic characters played by Shah Rukh Khan over the years.

“The fact that Shah Rukh Khan is not in my life just breaks my heart. The standards that Shah Rukh sir has set, the benchmark... don't even get me started. I'm madly in love with Shah Rukh sir. I mean, all the characters that he has played on screen. And I don't think I've yet met a man who is as romantic as Shah Rukh sir,” she said.The actress joked about the high expectations his characters have created, showing how Bollywood romances have influenced her view of relationships.

She also talked about whether Hindi films have sometimes promoted unhealthy ideas about love. The ‘Super 30’ actress said that revisiting some iconic films today has made her question certain things shown on screen.“Yes, most iconic movies, when I re-watched, I was like, ‘what, why’.

Also, look, that was a different time. Social media wasn't there. Now it is. Back then, there were only films, and films were only for entertainment. Now the approach has changed. I'm just happy to be born in this era where, as a woman, I have choices to choose the kind of movies and genres I want to be in,” she added.

Mrunal Thakur says audience perspective matters

The ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ actress also mentioned that viewers respond to films differently, depending on how they interpret the stories and characters.

“It depends on people, how they look at it as a movie, whether they learn a lesson from it or see it as entertainment. There are also people who don't change even after watching it. So, it's about the perspective. It's about the audience,” she added.On her work, she was recently seen in the crime thriller ‘Pooja Meri Jaan’, alongside Huma Qureshi and Vijay Raaz. The film was completed in 2022 but faced a multi-year delay before releasing directly on OTT.
