KUALA LUMPUR: Sime Darby Property Bhd group managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Seri Azmir Merican has been named Real Estate Personality of the Year at the 2026 PropertyGuru Asia Awards Malaysia with iProperty.

The award recognises leaders who have made a significant impact on Malaysia's property sector.

The recognition comes as SD Property expands beyond its traditional property development business into industrial and logistics parks, while strengthening its investment and asset management capabilities.

SD Property said the award reflected its ongoing business transformation and the collective efforts of its workforce to strengthen the business.

Under Azmir's leadership, the company has diversified its operations to build more resilient income streams and support its long-term growth.

It said the expansion into industrial and logistics parks, alongside the development of its investment and asset management businesses, had broadened its earnings base beyond conventional property development.

"Looking ahead, the group is well prepared to create lasting value for generations to come.

"Guided by its Shift32 strategy, the Sime Darby Property team remains inspired to push boundaries and build sustainable communities in line with its purpose of driving real estate as a value multiplier for people, businesses, economies and the planet," it added.

SD Property said it will continue to pursue its SHIFT32 strategy to create sustainable long-term value for its stakeholders.

The strategy is aligned with the group's purpose of driving real estate as a value multiplier for people, businesses, economies and the planet.
