Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday announced his marriage with journalist Nidhi Razdan as he shared pictures on social media.
“A new journey began yesterday,” Abdullah wrote in a post on X as he tagged Nidhi.
Nidhi also shared photographs and wrote, “It's done bro.”
Omar was earlier married to Payal Nath in 1994, but the couple announced separation in 2011. They have two sons, Zahir and Zamir. Since the dispute that began in 2009, Abdullah continued staying in J&K while his wife and sons remained in Delhi.
As the marital dispute turned into a legal battle, the Delhi high court in 2023 disputed his claim that his estranged wife Payal deserted him and observed that this amounted to mental cruelty for obtaining a decree of divorce. The HC upheld the earlier order of a Delhi court in August 2016, which faulted him for not making out any ground for cruelty against his wife.
