I Was Forced To Train Away From My Teammates —Jesus Opens Up On Last Days At Arsenal

Gabriel Jesus has aimed a parting shot at Arsenal after revealing he was forced to train away from his team-mates before securing a move to Barcelona.

The Brazilian forward was left out of the Arsenal squad for their first two games of the season, with the expectation he would leave the club.

Jesus ultimately sealed a cut-price £8.6million move to Spanish giants Barcelona on deadline day, ending his four-year spell with the Gunners.

According to Daily Mail, speaking to SportyTV, Jesus has admitted his final days at the club were spent training away from his Arsenal team-mates, which he claimed had been an abrupt decision.

“The truth is I was training, I did all the pre-season training with Arsenal normal and then obviously I knew already that probably I will not play there or get some opportunity,’ Jesus said.

“But no-one told me nothing.

“I’m a professional you know and then obviously I was training with the group and then from nothing they put me to train away from the group.

“I was training and doing my maximum to be ready if I have the chance to play in a high level again and then obviously in the last week it was very quick.

“The work with Deco, and the president of the club, and my agent was amazing. In one day, it was sure that I would have the opportunity to come (to Barcelona). I said yes, straight away, no matter what and I am so happy to be here.”

Jesus had been involved in all four of Arsenal’s official pre-season matches in the build-up to his departure, albeit having limited game time in each.

The forward had initially joined the Gunners in 2022 after five years at Manchester City but largely played a bit-part role under Mikel Arteta.

Jesus had missed most of 2025 with a cruciate ligament tear, but was part of the Gunners squad that eventually ended the club’s long wait for a Premier League title.

The forward made 123 appearances for the Gunners in total, scoring 32 goals and providing 22 assists.

Arteta had lauded Jesus’s contribution to Arsenal after his departure to Barcelona was confirmed.

“He was a massive contributor for us to change the dynamic and the energy in and around this club,’ the Arsenal boss said earlier this month.

“I think when Gabi came in he brought this energy, this belief within, this aura, that’s really helped achieve what happened next.

“And now, yeah, he has an amazing opportunity to enjoy one of the biggest clubs in the world, and a beautiful place to live as well, and we are happy for him.”

Jesus made his Barcelona debut on Sunday, playing the final ten minutes of their 5-0 win over Valencia in LaLiga.
