Opposition unity faces acid test as Sifuna’s big day exposes divisions

Translate

The unveiling of Edwin Sifuna’s Linda Mwananchi Movement headquarters in Lavington on Friday was billed as a show of the United Opposition but it ended up baring serious fault lines in the loose coalition.

The main incident that the organisers will wish to quickly forget is the booing of Wiper Patriotic Front’s Kalonzo Musyoka. Trouble started when Mr Musyoka took the microphone and appeared to suggest that though it was Mr Sifuna’s moment, his party was not there to endorse the Nairobi senator currently enjoying a surge in support as per recent opinion polls.
