Some residents have already evacuated, while others remain concerned about their homes and have refused to leave. Some have been using pieces of foam as makeshift vessels to travel through the flooded areas.

The floods have also swept away shrimp and fish that residents had been raising. With the water carrying away their livestock, residents said there was little they could do except watch the flooding and wait for the water to finally recede.
