Taylor Swift's unseen VMAs moments revealed: Surprise fan interactions and candid A-list encounters

Taylor Swift may have arguably been the most successful star at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards, but exclusive behind-the-scenes clips from the event reveal a shockingly normal side to the hitmaker.

The singer, 36, took home one of the biggest awards of the night, Video of the Year, received the first-ever Artist Director Award, and debuted her highly anticipated new music video for her single Patient Zero at the event. 

But when the TV cameras weren't rolling, the Daily Mail caught the Cruel Summer songstress sharing some intimate moments with fans, as well as her A-list pals.

Footage obtained by the Daily Mail showed Swift as she entered the theater and made her way to her seat just after the ceremony kicked off.

She walked through the crowd, oozing confidence as she shook hands with her fellow stars and happily waved at excited fans.

At one point, the pop star seemed completely at ease as she animatedly talked with someone in the crowd.

After winning the Artist Director Award, Swift's brand new music video for her song Patient Zero played on screen.

And unseen footage taken by the Daily Mail showed Swift's sweet reaction to the visual.

Swift was getting ready to exit the stage when it started playing, and she excitedly stopped, turned around and pointed at the screen.

She and her pal Dakota Johnson, who had presented her with the award and also starred in the video, then watched it together from the stage.

Johnson draped her arm around Swift, while the Cruel Summer songstress rested her hand on the actress's.

At one point, the two stars appeared to adorably fangirl over the video, with Swift opening her mouth wide in surprise before they turned to each other to giggle.

Swift was also seen dancing to the hit, swaying back and forth to the beat of her own song.

Another behind-the-scenes clip shared by the VMAs official X account showed Swift lovingly hugging some young fans in the audience.

She embraced one little girl before they posed for a photo together. She then called another over so they could take a selfie.

Meanwhile, her husband, Travis Kelce, cheekily cheered her on from home.

Although he wasn't in attendance because of a Chiefs game against the Miami Dolphins earlier in the day, he notably showed his support by pressing the 'like' button on a video of Swift on the red carpet at the event.

The clip, shared by Good Morning America on Instagram, showed her posing up a storm in her sexy two-toned gown.

Swift's dress consisted of a black sleeveless bodice with a mesh back to highlight her enviably trim waist and a sparkly silver skirt that hung off her hips.

She completed the look with heels decked out with rhinestones and accessorized with dangly earrings, her wedding band and her $550,000 engagement ring from Kelce, whom she wed in July after nearly three years of dating.

She debuted shorter, wispier bangs, which she styled with sleek shoulder-length strands.

The 36-year-old superstar directed and penned the script for the new music video, which also starred acclaimed actor Colin Farrell. 

It features a slew of dramatic scenes, including countless hot and heavy moments between Johnson and Farrell, who play a couple in a toxic romance, as well as a forbidden kiss between Farrell and model Cara Delevingne, who plays his mistress. 

Swift also acts in the video as the late fiancée of Farrell's character who comes back from the dead to warn Johnson's character of his abusive ways.
