Sen. Legarda extends medical leave anew, will be away until Oct. 9
MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Loren Legarda extended anew her medical leave to October 9, Senate Secretary Renato Bantug said on Monday.
In a message sent to the Inquirer, Bantug said Legarda filed a medical leave anew from Sept. 21 to 23, Sept. 28 to Oct 2, and Oct. 5 to 9.
This is the sixth time that Legarda filed her medical leave amid reports that she is in France and seeking treatment for a lung ailment, as claimed by some colleagues.

Legarda, however, has not publicly disclosed details of her condition.
Legarda first filed a medical leave from Aug. 3 to 5 and has sincesought extensions, mostly covering Mondays to Wednesdays, the days set by the Senate impeachment court for the trial of Vice President Sara Duterte along with Senate sessions.
She reportedly left the country on August 2 only a few days after the Office of the Ombudsman announced that she and her son, Batangas Rep. Leandro Leviste, would be subject to a preliminary investigation over P10 billion “ghost” solar power projects.
Legarda has since denied the accusations, maintaining that the allegations were “false and baseless.” /gsg
