AFCON 2027Q: Tanzania Coach Unveils Squad For Super Eagles Double-Header

Translate

Tanzania head coach Miguel Gamondi has named a 24-man squad for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double-header against Nigeria’s Super Eagles.

The squad features a strong representation of players from the Tanzania Premier League, with domestic clubs providing the bulk of the selections.

League champions Yanga FC and Azam FC lead the way with five players each, while Kagera Sugar and Singida Black Stars have one representative apiece.

Among the foreign-based players called up are Novatus Miroshi, who features for Turkish Super Lig side Goztepe, Cyprian Kachewele of Ukraine’s Kryvbas, and Bernard Kamongo, who plays for FC Dallas in the United States.

The Taifa Stars will head into the fixtures seeking to improve their standing in the qualifying campaign after a disappointing start.

They suffered a 2-0 defeat to Guinea-Bissau in their opening match before settling for a 1-1 draw against Madagascar in their second outing.

Gamondi’s men are scheduled to face Nigeria in a matchday-three encounter at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Friday, November 13.

The two nations will renew hostilities four days later when Tanzania host the return fixture in Dar es Salaam.
