'Clayface' final trailer unveils gruesome origin story - WATCH

The final trailer for DC Studios’ 'Clayface' has arrived, offering fans the most detailed look yet at the newest shape-shifting villain and his origin story.Directed by James Watkins, the new trailer presents a new take on the iconic DC character, with Tom Rhys Harries playing Matt Hagen, an aspiring actor whose life takes a horrifying turn after he is disfigured by a local gangster.

Desperate to rebuild his life and career, he volunteers for an experimental medical treatment that has devastating consequences, transforming him into a shape-shifting clay creature, thus setting the stage for the film’s horror-driven story.The new footage offers a closer look at Hagen’s physical transformation and using his newfound abilities to fully embrace his villainous side.James Gunn, who is steering the current DC Universe, shared his enthusiasm for the film, saying, “I can't wait to share this wonderful movie so lovingly crafted by James Watkins in four short weeks.”

'The Batman' director, Matt Reeves, who is attached as a producer, also encouraged audiences to watch the film, tweeting, “Can’t wait for you all to see #ClayfaceMovie — only in theaters, October 23rd.”Clayface is set within the wider DC Universe and also features the character in Creature Commandos. It is still unclear if the film serves as part of the character’s introduction to the DCU, rather than being connected to Reeves’ The Batman universe.

However, new set photos from the Robert Pattinson-starrer has hinted at a possible link between the two.'Clayface' has officially received an R rating for “strong bloody violence, gore, language, some nudity and brief drug use”. It has a reported runtime of one hour and 45 minutes.The cast includes Naomi Ackie as Caitlyn Corr and Max Minghella as John, alongside Nancy Carroll, Tanya Moodie, Eddie Marsan, David Dencik, Sonita Henry and Ruby Sear.Clayface' is scheduled to be released exclusively in cinemas on October 23, 2026.
