‘X-Men’ Movie: Asa Germann Nabs Role of Angel (Exclusive)

Asa Germann, known for his roles in superhero series Gen V and horror hit Scream 7, is in final talks for a high flying key role in Marvel Studios’ X-Men revival.

Much of the cast has already been revealed as Marvel has been meeting and reading and testing actors throughout the summer. The roll call already includes Sadie Sink (Jean Grey), Kit Connor (Cyclops), Christopher Abbott (Prof. X), Samara Weaving (Emma Frost), Inde Navarrette (Rogue) and Maya Boyd (Storm). Adam Driver is also among the cast as the villain Mr. Sinister.

Marvel declined to comment.

Germann was among those who was up for the role of Cyclops. Connor nabbed that role but the Kevin Feige-led studio was impressed enough with Germann that they offered him the part of Warren Worthington III, aka Angel.

The character, created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, was introduced in the very first issue of X-Men back in 1963. Among his attributes are feathered wings on his back, giving him the ability to fly. During one part of his history, Angel was maimed and his wings were replaced by metal projectile-shooting wings by the villain Apocalpyse.

The character appeared twice before on the big-screen. Ben Foster played him in 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand while Ben Hardy played him in 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse.

Jake Schreier (Thunderbolts) is directing the feature that has a release date of May 5, 2028.

Germann already has superhero credentials as he played Samuel “Sam” Riordan in Gen V, the spinoff of The Boys that centered on super-powered young adults attending a crimefighting university. In Scream 7, he played Lucas Bowden, a young man who meets an untimely end on a bar tap ornament.
