Liza Marcos celebrates 67th birthday with Kris Aquino, Anne Binay

MANILA, Philippines — First lady Liza Araneta-Marcos’ recent birthday celebration brought together Kris Aquino and her sons, Josh and Bimby, and Anne Binay-Alcantara.
Fashion designer Michael Leyva on Saturday shared photos and videos of the first lady’s intimate birthday celebration on his Instagram account.

“From all of us, may this special day bring you the same warmth, grace, and joy that you continue to share with others,” Leyva posted in his greeting for the first lady.

“Here’s to another year of creating beautiful things, inspiring others, and dedicating yourself to meaningful work in service of the Filipino people,” he added.

The first lady’s birthday party provided a glimpse of a social circle in which personal friendships and family relationships have crossed long-standing political lines.
Leyva has long-standing close relationships with Aquino and Araneta-Marcos, designing clothes for the two women.

Despite the Aquinos and Marcoses being political rivals since the 1970s, the families’ relationship has always existed well outside politics.
The first lady considers Josh and Bimby her own nephews. Araneta-Marcos is part of the Cojuangco-Aquino family by affinity. The first lady’s aunt, Rosario “Sari” Cacho, was married to Pedro “Don Pepe” Cojuangco. Don Pepe was the elder brother of former President Corazon “Cory” Aquino, who was Kris’ mother.

Meanwhile, Binay-Alcantara is one of Kris’ closest friends.
Anne and the Binay family served as caretakers of Bimby in the country while Kris was undergoing treatment for her autoimmune diseases in the United States.

The Binays have long been friends of Aquino’s family, as their father, former Vice President Jejomar Binay, served as one of the lawyers of slain Sen. Benigno Aquino Jr. and was a former ally of the late former President Aquino. /mcm
