There aren't many fantasy franchises that can stage an epic showdown quite like Game of Thrones. Across Westeros and its expanding slate of spinoffs, some of the saga's most memorable moments have come when rival houses, warriors, and would-be kings finally meet face-to-face.
The Battle of the Bastards remains one of television’s most famous medieval clashes, while House of the Dragon delivered its own devastating spectacle at Rook's Rest. Even A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has embraced Westeros' long tradition of bedlam and brutality, adapting the infamous Trial of Seven and Baelor "Breakspear" Targaryen's devastating fate.
Not every great confrontation requires armies or dragons, either. From trials by combat to chaotic melees and tournament grounds packed with ambitious knights, Westeros has always found new ways to deliver the action on screen. That tradition will continue throughout October with the arrival of Game of Thrones: Grand Melee, bringing another major clash to the franchise.

Game of Thrones: Legends is leaning heavily into Westeros' appetite for combat throughout October, with Grand Melee events scheduled during all four full weeks of the month. Each run centers on a different Champion, beginning with Nymeria Sand before shifting to Ormund Hightower, Mance Rayder, and finally Aerion Targaryen.
The Grand Melee itself is a relatively new addition to Legends, introduced as a limited-time mode in September’s 1.0.627 update. Players battle an enemy team while attempting to accumulate as many points as possible and climb the global leaderboard. There are 10 difficulty levels, with the higher tiers making things progressively tougher by reducing Champion levels and limiting players to curated pools of characters.
Optional modifiers called Burdens can also be added to increase the challenge while boosting the score multiplier. Higher-difficulty victories can therefore translate into better leaderboard positions and access to milestone and leaderboard rewards. Players must first complete Campaign Chapter 40 on Normal Difficulty to participate.
The October Grand Melee schedule is:
- Nymeria Sand: October 5 at 4 a.m. ET to October 10 at 4 a.m. ET
- Ormund Hightower: October 12 at 4 a.m. ET to October 17 at 4 a.m. ET
- Mance Rayder: October 19 at 4 a.m. ET to October 24 at 4 a.m. ET
- Aerion Targaryen: October 26 at 4 a.m. ET to October 31 at 4 a.m. ET
Grand Melee is only one part of a particularly busy October. The regular event rotation includes Robb’s War from October 1–5, Battle of the Bastards from October 8–12, a House of the Dragon event from October 15–19, Battle of Blackwater Bay from October 22–26, and Assault on Rook’s Rest beginning October 29 and continuing through November 2. Each is accompanied by its own limited Summon featuring a selection of Legendary Champions.
October also introduces the Lord of the Hightower Summon on October 7 and The Brightflame Summon on October 21, while Alliser Thorne and Catelyn Stark receive new Iconic Items on October 14 and October 28, respectively. A new Kingsroad season, The Unlikely Heir, begins October 12 with Benjen Stark Champion Shards available through the paid Goldroad Pass. Combined with four consecutive Grand Melees, October gives Game of Thrones: Legends players some form of major limited-time activity virtually every week.
