Coronation Street secures return for controversial villain as star returns to filming

Coronation Street is bringing back a major villain just months after fans thought she was gone for good. Beth Nixon who plays Megan Walsh is on her way back to the cobbles to "explore another chapter of the grooming story."
In July, Megan was sentenced to five years in prison for her grooming of teen Will Driscoll. However the former athletics coach had vowed to appeal the sentence.
Digital Spy understand that show bosses are keen to explore another chapter of Megan and Will's story.

An insider told us: "Will has been trying to get his life back on track after everything that Megan did. Whether he's the one who comes face-to-face with her, or whether someone from his family will be interacting with Megan remains to be seen.
"Bosses were impressed by Beth's work on the big storyline so it's no surprise to see her back so soon."
Following Megan's sentencing, Beth took to Instagram to say goodbye to her character. "Megan, you're a cow and I'll miss you like a hole in the head," she wrote. "Thank you thank you thank you to every single person at @coronationstreet you've changed my life! Peace out."
Opening up about playing Megan on the Inside Soap's Soap Scoop podcast, Beth said: "When I first took the role we didn't know fully what was going to happen, how long it was going to be and how long she was going to be there for.

"But it was always that she wasn't ever going to escape justice by being killed or anything like that.
"We always knew that she was going to serve her time. It shows the whole process of it. It's quite nice, because it's showing what all the family are going through – how they're supporting Will and how it's affecting them."
Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
