British woman stabbed to death by stranger in Germany pictured as tributes paid to ‘beloved’ friend

The British woman stabbed to death by a stranger in Germany has been pictured for the first time.

Rebecca ‘Becca’ Bullock, 31, was attacked in the early hours of Sunday morning near a train station in Rosenheim, Bavaria, while on her way to Austria to support a friend at a funeral, according to friends. They paid tribute to the “much loved” member of the community who raised money for charity and collected life-saving aid for Ukrainian refugees.

Police arrested a 27-year-old German national of no fixed address at the scene. The suspect was later moved to a psychiatric hospital on suspicion of murder as police continue their investigations.

Ms Bullock was identified by the White Swan pub in Whitchurch, Buckinghamshire, which remembered her fondly as a “beloved” member of staff who was “much loved by all of the team ... and our amazing locals”.

Floral tributes had been left in honour of Ms Bullock outside of her pub, the Swan shared in a post on Wednesday.

Locals remembered the avid horse rider and charity fundraiser as a “breath of fresh air” since taking over the establishment “a couple of years ago”.

Richard Shuffill, 82, vice-chairman of the parish council, told The Sun: “It was impossible not to like her. She was always pleasant and friendly. No one can believe what’s happened and she will be terribly missed.”

He said her death was a “huge loss to our community” and had come as a “real shock”, as he had seen her only on Saturday lunchtime, some 12 hours before she was attacked.

Samantha Perry remembered Ms Bullock in a tribute post for her efforts fundraising for a young girl to undergo stem cell therapy. The White Swan pub earlier in August had held a charity music festival to raise money for the appeal.

On her social media pages, Ms Bullock had shared her campaigns raising money for charity outside of her work. She had raised thousands of pounds for the Spinal Injuries Association while training to run the London Marathon in 2022, her posts show.

She had also organised a collection point for vital aid for refugees in the first days of the war in Ukraine, helping to distribute clothes, toys and food to those displaced by the conflict.

Ms Bullock died from her injuries in hospital, Rosenheim police said in a statement on Sunday. They did not release the name of the victim or suspect in line with German privacy rules and said they were still investigating the circumstances and motive of the attack.

Bavarian state police have asked for any witnesses who may have seen “an argument or physical altercation” at the Rosenheim train station in the early hours on Sunday morning to come forward.

A foreign office spokesperson told The Independent: "We are supporting the family of a British woman who died in Germany are in touch with the local authorities."
