Emmerdale confirms Jimmy funeral week twist as Nicola makes a discovery

Emmerdale features a final farewell to Jimmy King next week, but there are mixed emotions around his send-off for widow Nicola.

When a big clue emerges to the whereabouts of his hidden cash, Nicola hopes she can pay off the debt her husband left behind – not realising Sadie King and Robert Sugden are secretly hunting for the money too, and planning to swipe it from under her nose!

"All the evidence is damning against Jimmy having cheated on Nicola," begins Nicola Wheeler, who plays her. "Or should I say, Sadie's evidence is damning!

"By now, the audience know her claims that Jimmy was leading a double life with her are a lie. At the moment, Nicola is just desperate to locate the £150,000 Jimmy left, which is nowhere to be found…"

As preparations for Jimmy's service get under way, his family are still reeling from the tragedy. Conflicted with grief and anger over Sadie's bombshell that Jimmy had been juggling two women, Nicola struggles as the service looms.

"She'd prefer not to go to the funeral but has to make it special for the children," continues Nicola. "They deserve to give their dad a good send-off, but as far as Nicola's concerned, she'd dig a big hole and dump him in it! After hearing a voicemail Jimmy left Sadie, Nicola is convinced of his guilt.

"However, she didn't listen to the end where Jimmy told Sadie he loved Nicola, and hated lying to her!"

Sadie has been shamelessly pretending to be Nicola's BFF, but her ulterior motive is to track down his cash. When she learns that Nicola has found backed-up voicemails on Jimmy's laptop, she fears her scheme will be scuppered if the second Mrs King listens to them in their entirety.

While Sadie and Robert plot to delete the incriminating messages before Nicola hears the truth, Carl finds a mysterious key among his dad's belongings. Could this lead them to where Jimmy's financial legacy is being kept?

Baffled Nicola is at a loss as to where the key comes from. Having looked everywhere for Jimmy's dosh, she dares to hope this key may be their path to fortune – but where's the lock that fits it?

"Manpreet recognises it as a key for the lockers at the golf club," reveals Nicola. "Somebody comments only an idiot would leave £150,000 somewhere like that…

"Nicola reckons Jimmy was a bit of an idiot, so it's worth looking into! Sadie hears this, and tells Robert they need to check out the golf club before Nicola gets there."

It's a race to be the first to locate the locker, but Sadie and Robert get a head start when they arrive ahead of their rivals. As they ransack the locker room, the duo are spooked when they hear voices and are forced to hide before they're caught in the act.

"Nicola and Rodney arrive and unknowingly scare them away," confirms Nicola. "Filming those scenes was so funny. We had to time it perfectly so Sadie and Robert go out of shot, then Rodney and Nicola enter!

"The question is, who ends up opening the locker first and finding the money? Either of them could have the opportunity…"

As the funeral dawns, Nicola helps Carl with his memorial presentation he made for Jimmy on his laptop. Finding the voicemails, she steels herself and decides to listen to them again – will she hear the incriminating ending this time and realise Sadie's been lying, or remain duped as she lays Jimmy to rest?

"Nicola doesn't want to speak at the funeral," explains Nicola. "She asks Charles to read the eulogy and just wants to focus on making sure the children are alright. Nicola doesn't feel like she can sing her husband's praises and talk about how much she loved him. She is utterly betrayed."

Turning on the tears, Sadie takes a front row seat at the church. As Charles delivers his tribute, Nicola suddenly announces she wants to make a speech after all… What has she got to say?

"If the truth ever comes out, Nicola's going to kill Sadie!" teases Nicola. "To make somebody hate the love of their life is unforgivable. Sadie deserves her just desserts!"
