RICHARD EDEN: Dec raises the roof at his £2.25million party pad

At 5ft 6in, Declan Donnelly rarely needs to mind his head while indoors.

But I hear that the ITV star plans to raise the roof at a glitzy party area he’s building next door to his £7million west London mansion.

Three years after the I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here! presenter snapped up the neighbouring building for £2.25million, he now has permission to increase the ‘parapet height’ of the property’s party room.

The space already features a custom-built bar, vintage mirror, fancy fireplace and bespoke seating.

Hounslow Council planners have signed off on Dec’s plan to raise the roof parapet by eight inches after he guaranteed ‘high quality and conservation-appropriate architectural detailing’.

The council added that the ‘proposal remains limited in scope and does not alter the approved footprint, use, or overall form of the extension’ and does not ‘harm the character of appearance’ of the nearby conservation area.

Documents posted online state: ‘The (planning) variation comprises a modest increase in parapet height of approximately 200mm.’

Newcastle-born Dec, 50, one half of the presenting duo Ant and Dec, has an estimated fortune of £62million.

He lives with his wife Ali Astall, 47, and children Isla, eight, and Jack, four. In Easter 2021 burglars tried to raid the property while they slept, but went away empty handed after failing to break through the gates.

Dec’s I’m A Celeb co-star Ant McPartlin relocated from Wimbledon to Surrey earlier this year. Ant recently joked that he was forced out of London, telling Dec (left) on a podcast: ‘Yes, I had to move out of London because people were parking bikes outside of my house.’

Perhaps Dec’s party house will tempt him to come back.

The daughter of former tennis ace and BBC Wimbledon pundit Andrew Castle, 62, announced the birth of their baby girl, Birdie Wilde Lipkin, over the weekend, sharing the happy news on Instagram with the words: ‘Never known love like it.’

The gripping microdrama, in which some scenes have been voiced by recordings of the late Diana, charts the key moments and steps that led to the late princess (right) finding her strength against The Firm.

An insider on the production tells me: ‘It draws a direct, haunting parallel to the Sussexes’ modern-day war with the institution and their current battle against the royal gatekeepers.’
