Azmin: Pas wrecked PN, now blames Bersatu

KUALA LUMPUR: Bersatu secretary-general Datuk Seri Azmin Ali yesterday lashed out at Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan for saying Perikatan Nasional would take disciplinary action against the party.
Azmin laid the blame for the coalition's dispute with the Registry of Societies (RoS) on Pas, saying the party had "wrecked" PN.
He said RoS moved to deregister PN because of Pas' actions, adding that the party was now trying to shift the blame to Bersatu.
"They were the ones who wrecked PN, broke the law until the RoS had to deregister PN, and now want to blame others," he told the New Straits Times.
After an emergency meeting of the PN supreme council on Sunday, Takiyuddin said the coalition would take disciplinary action against Bersatu for acting against the coalition's interests.
Bersatu leaders were invited to the meeting but did not attend.
Takiyuddin, who is both PN and Pas secretary-general, said action would be taken under Clause 15 of the coalition's constitution, with a notice to be served soon.
Bersatu's decision to contest against PN candidates in the Negeri Sembilan election was considered an action that went against the coalition's interests.
On PN's planned action against Bersatu, Azmin declined to comment and told reporters to seek answers from Takiyuddin.
"You should ask Taki (Takiyuddin), not me," he said.
Other Bersatu leaders, including vice-president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu, declined to comment when asked about the matter.
The rift between Pas and Bersatu has widened in recent weeks, following the RoS decision to deregister PN on Oct 20 after Bersatu lodged a complaint over its exclusion from the coalition's July 16 supreme council meeting.
The Kuala Lumpur High Court later granted a stay of the RoS' suspension and deregistration pending the disposal of a judicial review application.
The RoS and the government have appealed against the ruling.
