Hollyoaks' Maddox finally discovers life-changing secret in big cliffhanger

Translate

Maddox Keane finally discovered a big secret on Hollyoaks, and it could be life-changing for the character. Armed with new knowledge about his parentage, how will the teenager react?

Maddox arrived in Cheshire earlier this year along with his adoptive parents, Jonah and Beth as well as his half-brother Caleb. Despite their happy appearances, it soon became apparent that the family had plenty of secrets.

It turned out that Cindy Cunningham was actually his biological mother, as she was acting as a surrogate for Beth. The latter, who is Cindy's niece, was fearful that her aunt would go back on their arrangement, and subsequently ran away with Maddox.

Cindy has since returned to the village and blackmailed Beth in exchange for her own silence, though Frankie Osborne has attained several clues about the matter. Everybody has tried to keep the secret, but it was to no avail.

Tuesday's (15 September) episode of the Channel 4 soap picked up as Maddox spent the night around Cindy's after the argument with Beth, though Cindy stopped short of telling him the whole truth.

Cindy later spoke with Mercedes McQueen, with the pair discussing their children and lives. This prompted Cindy to approach Maddox, though she again opted to not tell him the truth, instead urging him to make peace with Beth.

Cindy headed to The Dog and had a glass too many of wine, as she spilled some details to Maddox's girlfriend Dee Dee Hutchinson. As she gushed praise upon him, Dee Dee began to suspect that Cindy was hiding something.

Maddox, meanwhile, patched things up with Bethany, but Dee Dee began to grow more suspicious following a discussion with Frankie. She later met up with Maddox, and told him that she suspected that Cindy was his mother.

Though he brushed off the theory to begin with, he soon became overwhelmed with emotion and appeared to consider that Dee Dee's hunch may be correct. Though the episode ended on a cliffhanger, it seems likely that he will at least ask some questions.

Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.

Selected omnibus episodes are available via Prime Video.
