Jack Huston, Chazz Palminteri & Kathleen Chalfant Join Hulu’s ‘Chicks’ Pilot

Translate

EXCLUSIVE: Jack Huston (Spider-Man Noir, Boardwalk Empire), Chazz Palminteri (A Bronx TaleBullets Over Broadway) and Kathleen Chalfant (The Copenhagen TestThe Affair) have joined Ellen Pompeo and Jodie Whittaker in the Hulu pilot Chicks.

From writer and executive producer Katie Robbins, Chicks is a family dramedy set in the rapidly gentrifying neighborhoods of old Boston. It follows Chickie (Pompeo) and Doreen (Whittaker), two estranged half-sisters who are both struggling to get by when their wise-guy dad unexpectedly kicks the bucket. Their only inheritance is a legacy of two-bit crime that inspires them to run increasingly audacious frauds. As their con grows, so does their odd-couple bond, as they each start to fill the father-shaped hole in the other’s heart.

In a series regular role, Huston plays The Clooney, a devilishly handsome businessman who’s charmed by Chickie’s store and maybe her too…

Palminteri will guest star as Salvatore Mastrangelo, Sr., Chickie and Doreen’s dad. A man who moves down the street with a swing in his step and a swagger in his soul, Sally, Sr., is a neighborhood institution and fixer, a ladies’ man with four ex-wives (not that anyone’s counting), and an even bigger portfolio of small-time cons.

Chalfant plays Aunt Sister Donna of Compassionate Trinity, Chickie and Doreen’s paternal aunt, who is mean as spit and tougher than any wise guy on the block.

Chicks is based on an original idea from Robbins that she developed for Pompeo, inspired by conversations the two had on the set of their first project together, the Hulu limited series Good American Family. Pompeo and Robbins exec-produce alongside the latter’s Calamity Jane partner, Laura Holstein.

Huston is repped by 111 Media, Altitude Management, CAA, and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole. Palminteri is repped by Innovative Artists & Liebman Entertainment. Chalfant is repped by DGRW & AMT Artists.
