FilmNation Entertainment has tapped former Warner Bros. Motion Picture chair Toby Emmerich to consult on the studio’s production label, Infrared.

FilmNation’s Infrared focuses on developing genre films with franchise potential. Emmerich will consult on the development and production of the slate. Upcoming projects from Infrared include Derek Kolstad’s “Painter” starring Amber Midthunder and Walton Goggins for 20th Century Studios and JT Mollner’s “Skeletons” starring Brie Larson for Sony Pictures. Previous releases include the action comedy “Novocaine” with Jack Quaid.

“Having very recently collaborated with Toby, and loving his filmmaking roots from New Line, we’ve seen firsthand how his exceptional creative instincts can turn bold projects into breakout hits,” said FilmNation Entertainment CEO Glen Basner. “The Infrared team is thrilled to have him bring that expertise and propulsive energy to an independent genre label, where we can build on our momentum and take it to an entirely new level.”

Emmerich recently worked with FilmNation on Peter Farrelly’s “I Play Rocky,” which premiered at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival. Anthony Ippolito stars in the movie as a young Sylvester Stallone trying to get his eventual best picture winner off the ground. Emmerich’s Fireside Films produced the film, alongside Christian Baha and Farrelly, with FilmNation handling production services and international sales.

“I loved working with FilmNation on ‘I Play Rocky,’ and the film wouldn’t have been possible without them! Their entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to getting great independent films made is incredibly exciting. I can’t wait to jump in with Glen and the Infrared team,” Emmerich said.

Along with his new consulting role, Emmerich will continue to operate Fireside Films and Fireside Television with Michele Weiss and Amanda Krentzman.
