Kaizer Chiefs injury update: Phili, Petersen, Da Silva, Mako

Translate

Kaizer Chiefs could have several players available when they face Stellenbosch FC in the Betway Premiership on Tuesday evening.

Amakhosi are looking to close the gap at the top of the table after dropping valuable points last month.

Fernando Da Cruz’s men find themselves seven points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, although they have a game in hand.

Tuesday’s clash against Stellies at FNB Stadium will be an important test of their title ambitions. Anything less than three points could deal a significant blow to their hopes, with rivals Orlando Pirates also six points ahead of them.

Which Kaizer Chiefs players could be available?

A major boost for Chiefs could be the return of Langelihle Phili. The 21-year-old winger suffered an ankle injury during training and has missed two months of action.

Although he could be nearing full fitness, a return against his former club appears less likely.

Paseka Mako is another player who could be available for selection. The 32-year-old left-back has yet to feature in a match this season but has returned to training with the team.

Flavio Silva could also be in contention to lead the Kaizer Chiefs attack. The striker has missed the team’s recent matches but is reportedly fit and ready to return.

Silva was among Amakhosi’s standout signings last season, scoring nine goals, and his return would provide a welcome boost to the team’s attacking options.

Meanwhile, Brandon Petersen has recovered after missing the match against Golden Arrows before the FIFA international break.

The captain is expected to reclaim his place in goal, although Renaldo Leaner has given Da Cruz something to consider after keeping a clean sheet in Petersen’s absence.

Kaizer Chiefs will hope to have as many players as possible available as they prepare for a crucial encounter against Stellenbosch.
