Negri Sembilan Education Department probes viral video of 'zombie-like' student

Translate

NILAI: The Negri Sembilan Education Department is investigating a viral video showing a student in a zombie-like state at a secondary school in the district.

Its director, Khalidah Omar, said the department was conducting further investigations before issuing a statement.

The video, which went viral on Threads, carried claims that the student, purportedly a Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) candidate, was under the influence of a substance known as "piu piu".

The incident has also raised questions about how the substance, if drugs were indeed involved, could have been brought into the school.

The video showed the student standing near a table in a classroom, bent forward with his head lowered and seemingly motionless.

Several classmates appeared to be watching him, while a number of male students in school uniforms were seen recording the incident.

The footage drew various reactions from social media users, many of whom expressed shock over the alleged incident, particularly as it was said to have occurred within school grounds.

However, the authenticity of the claims and the location of the incident have yet to be verified.
