Four people were killed after a tractor-trolley carrying bricks overturned on Sultanpur Highway Road in Lucknow’s Gangaganj area early Saturday, police said.
The accident occurred around 4:45am when the tractor-trolley overturned and four people were trapped underneath it.
On receiving information, police from Gosainganj, fire services personnel and an NHAI team reached the spot. The trapped victims were rescued with the help of an NHAI crane and taken to the Community Health Centre (CHC), Gosainganj, in ambulances.
Doctors declared three of them dead, while the fourth, who was critically injured, was referred to a trauma centre. He, however, died while being taken to the hospital.
Police identified the deceased as Sandeep Rawat (25), Pitambar Rawat (35), Pawan Rawat (25), all residents of the Kothi police station area of Barabanki, and Balram Rawat (40), a resident of Sarai Nadar, Kothi, Barabanki.
Police said Pitambar worked as a tractor driver at an RBF brick kiln owned by Deshraj in Achkakamau under Kothi police station. The other three victims were engaged in loading and unloading bricks at the kiln.
After the accident, the tractor-trolley was removed from the highway, following which traffic movement returned to normal. The victims’ family members also reached the spot.
