KOTA BARU: Gold prices falling to RM503 a gramme have drawn crowds to jewellery shops across Kelantan since yesterday.

A check around Pasar Siti Khadijah found many shops packed with customers eager to take advantage of the price drop, with gold selling for between RM503 and RM504 a gramme.

Customer Halima Osman, 45, said she was surprised by the sharp decline, as prices had previously approached RM600 a gramme.

"I love gold and have been watching prices fall over the past few weeks. I think RM503 is the lowest so far.

"Whenever prices drop, I take the opportunity to buy more for my collection.

"Today, I bought a bracelet because the price was low. We buy when prices are low and sell when they rise to make a profit," she said.

Another customer, Nur Ain Abdul Manaf, 30, bought a necklace and an anklet.

She said she had long viewed gold jewellery as a form of savings and investment.

"Now that prices are low, we buy. If we need money in the future, we can sell it. This seems to be the lowest price so far.

"When prices are low, we can add to our collection. While I was at the jewellery shop, everyone was there to buy, not sell," she said.
