Jodie Whittaker seen with Grey's Anatomy favourite on set of brand-new comedy-drama with 'odd' duo

Jodie Whittaker and Ellen Pompeo have been spotted on set filming their upcoming comedy-drama, Chicks. First-look images from the set show the Doctor Who star and Grey's Anatomy icon in character as Doreen and Chickie, respectively, who are two estranged half-sisters in Boston.

The actors can be seen is casual clothes standing next to a car, smiling away as filming continues for the Hulu series.

The pilot was first announced in June, describing Chicks as "a family dramedy set in the rapidly gentrifying neighborhoods of old Boston, about Chickie (Pompeo) and Doreen (Whittaker), two estranged half-sisters who are both struggling to get by when their wise guy dad unexpectedly kicks the bucket."

It continues: "Their only inheritance is a legacy of two-bit crime that inspires them to run increasingly audacious frauds. As their con grows, so does their odd-couple bond, as they each start to fill the father-shaped hole in the other’s heart."

Doreen is further described by show bosses as "Wiry and wired, as scrappy as they come, Doreen’s worked every job under the sun and is no stranger to a less-than legal side hustles. But beneath her rough, wise-cracking exterior, Doreen is a puppy dog, and all she really wants is to be seen by her big sister Chicks."

Chicks comes from Good American Family's Katie Robbins, with the project originating in conversations between her and Pompeo. A release date for Chicks is yet to be announced.

It comes months after Whittaker admitted she would be interested in taking on the role of The Doctor again should the opportunity arise.

"I have never ever had to hide my absolute love for Doctor Who and I have said in every single interview that was ever asked, I would always say yes [to returning] and everyone knows that is what I will feel, I will love Doctor Who until the day I die," she told Digital Spy.

"I think everything to do with Doctor Who is a surprise, who the next Doctor is, who the companions are, there's always a surprise coming."
